EDWARD J. HOLOHAN, ASA, President & Actuary

As an Associate of the American Society of Actuaries (ASA), Edward Holohan has the equivalent of his master's degree in the actuarial profession. Ed has also completed most of the work required to attain Fellowship (FSA), which is considered the Ph.D of his profession.

Since 1990, Ed has operated his own pension plan design and administration services firm (Penflex, Inc. was formerly named Edward J. Holohan, ASA Employee Plan Services, Inc.) Since December 1995, Penflex pension plan administration services consist exclusively of length of service award program administration (LOSAP).

Ed has extensively studied LOSAPs for volunteer firefighters in New York State. He has written articles in fire district newsletters and has spoken at many conventions about LOSAPs. On numerous occasions, he discussed the program with the New York State Comptroller's staff, boards of fire commissioners, town and village boards and volunteer firefighters. He has also assisted state and federal legislators in drafting legislation and rules and regulations affecting service award programs. As Penflex extends into various states across the country, Ed continues to build his reputation as a highly regarded LOSAP specialist.

Prior to building his own company, Ed gained over 30 years of experience designing and administering employee benefit plans while working in both the government and private sector. From 1967-1986, Ed held various actuarial positions in the New York State and Local Employees' Retirement System. He performed actuarial cost studies of proposed Retirement System legislation and worked together with the legal staff of the Office of the State Comptroller to draft and analyze proposed legislation. He also had direct responsibility for the performance of the annual actuarial valuation of the System's assets and liabilities wherein the annual contributions payable to the System by the State and local government entities were calculated.

From 1982-1986, Ed was the Director of the System's Bureau of Employer Services, which provided information services to the municipalities participating in the System and to System members and their beneficiaries.

From 1987-1989, Ed was the manager of the Actuarial, Benefits and Compensation (ABC) consulting practice of the Albany, New York office of Coopers & Lybrand, which is one of the largest international, multi-disciplined consulting firms in the world. He designed and administered IRS qualified defined benefit pension plans, money purchase plans, profit sharing plans, flexible benefit "cafeteria" plans and Section 401(k) plans.

Ed earned his B.S. in Mathematics from Siena College in Loudonville, New York.

ANTHONY HILL, Vice President & Director of Operations

Tony Hill joined Penflex, Inc. as an analyst in January 2002. At Penflex, Tony oversees the day to day operations of the company, including managing work flow, peer review and quality control.

From 1998 through 2001, Tony worked for The Segal Company in New York, N.Y. as a pension programmer & consultant.  After graduating from Binghamton University with a degree in mathematics, Tony worked for PWC Kwasha Lipton in Fort Lee, NJ as an actuarial associate where he prepared data, reports and benefit statements and ran valuations.

KAREN KENYON, Office Manager

Karen Kenyon of Brunswick joined the staff at Penflex, Inc. as an administrative assistant in March 1997. As Penflex, Karen oversees the accounting department, and prepares drafts of program & trust documents and summary of program provisions.

Prior to her position at Penflex, Karen worked as a receptionist and office manager for 18 years.

TONY FIORILLO, Senior Service Award Program Specialist

Tony joined the Penflex staff in 2004. He assists with trust accounting, benefit calculations, the defined benefit valuations and preparation of the corresponding annual reports and volunteer statements, and is working on restructuring the data base system.

Tony spent 32 years with the New York State and Local Retirement System where he performed the annual actuarial valuations, produced the reports that detailed the valuations, worked on the annual report, and supervised employees.

Tony has a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Manhattan College.

LISA LEAHEY, Service Award Program Specialist

Lisa Leahey joined Penflex, Inc. as a specialist in October 2004.
Lisa assists with plan and trust documents, trust accounting, benefit calculations, IRS 1099 forms and the preparation of the annual program reports and volunteer statements.

Lisa worked for Milliman & Robertson, Inc. as an actuarial consultant where she specialized in defined contribution plans from 1985 through 1998. Lisa earned a bachelor's degree in computer science from Russell Sage College in 1985.

JENNIFER LANDERS, Service Award Program Specialist

Jen Landers returned to her position at Penflex, Inc. as a Service Award Program Specialist in 2005. Jen oversees trust accounting, benefit calculations, and the preparation of the annual program reports and volunteer statements.

After graduating from Siena college in 1994, Jen worked for Penflex as an pension analyst and office manager.  Jen spent two years at Preferred Group and two years at Fleet Investment Management as a pension analyst specializing in defined contribution plans, valuations, benefit calculations and Form 5500 preparation.

KIMBERLY DROST, Administrative Assistant

Kim Drost joined the staff at Penflex, Inc. as an administrative assistant in June 2006. Kim is responsible for entering data, preparing documents, directing inquiries and assisting in office upkeep and management.

Prior to her position at Penflex, Kim worked in several administrative assistant positions in several fields including local government, child welfare and customer service.
